How Plant Rental Works in NYC: Quote, COI, Delivery, Install & Strike

Interior Foliage handles NYC and Northeast plant rentals as a full service: quote, certificate of insurance (COI) when venues require it, delivery from our Long Island City greenhouse, on-site install, and strike after the event. Short-term rentals are a flat rate up to three days. Call 718-784-4527 or email info@interiorfoliage.com to start.

From inquiry to quote

Send the basics and we can check greenhouse inventory against your date:

  • Event date(s)
  • Venue name and city
  • Plant list or lookbook (or “olive trees + similar”)
  • Indoor vs. outdoor
  • Load-in and load-out windows

We confirm what’s available, share options, and quote a flat rate for up to three days. Longer holds are case by case. Quotes typically cover the plants and planters you select; delivery, labor, and sales tax depend on venue access, timing, and crew needs.

Certificates of insurance (COI)

Many NYC hotels, museums, parks, lots, and production companies ask vendors for a certificate of insurance before load-in.

  • Ask for a COI when you request a quote so we can prepare it with the rest of the job.
  • Venues often want to be named on the certificate; send the exact additional-insured wording they require.
  • Coverage limits, forms, and turnaround depend on the venue’s request and our policy—we do not publish dollar limits on this page.

If your site has union house rules, security check-in, or a certificate deadline, include those notes with the inquiry.

Delivery from our NYC greenhouse

Interior Foliage Design is a family-owned greenhouse based in Long Island City, serving New York City, the Hamptons and Montauk, and the broader Northeast—including markets such as Boston, Philadelphia, D.C., Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

Delivery timing depends on:

  • Distance and weekend traffic (especially East End Fridays)
  • Street vs. loading dock vs. elevator reservations
  • Plant volume and tree heights
  • Quiet hours or blackout windows at the venue

Share access photos or a floor plan when you can. Our crew stages from the greenhouse so plants arrive clean and ready to place.

Install and placement

Install means we place the rental as scoped—trees in planters, hedge walls as architecture, living walls as photo moments—not a drop at the curb unless that is what you booked.

Typical install notes:

  • We work inside your load-in window
  • Share where guests will enter, where cameras will face, and what must stay hidden (generators, cases, cables)
  • Mix-and-match looks are common: olive trees, boxwood hedge walls, and living walls

For production call sheets see plant rentals for film, TV & premieres. For brand rooms see corporate brand activation plant rentals. For ceremonies see wedding plant & tree rentals.

Strike (load-out) and pickup

Strike is the pickup: we remove the rental after the event so your team is not watering, storing, or disposing of trees.

  • Same-night strike is often possible when load-out is scheduled
  • Overnight or next-day holds are available when quoted
  • Coastal and Hamptons weekends need realistic drive-time—see Hamptons / Montauk event plant rentals

You should not be left with plants to maintain after we leave, unless you have separately arranged a longer hold.

What to send so we can schedule

For a smooth job, include:

  1. Date and city
  2. Venue name, address, and access notes (dock, elevator, stairs, lawn protection)
  3. Plant list or references
  4. Load-in / load-out windows
  5. COI additional-insured wording if the venue already sent it
  6. Any union, security, or quiet-hour rules

FAQ — How plant rental works in NYC

What is included in a short-term plant rental? The plants and planters you select for up to three days at a flat rate, plus scheduled delivery, placement, and pickup as quoted. Labor and tax depend on access and timing.

Can you provide a COI for our venue? Venues often require a certificate of insurance. Request it with your quote and send the venue’s additional-insured wording. We do not publish coverage dollar amounts on this site.

Do you only drop plants, or do you install them? We deliver and place the rental as scoped. Install is part of the standard event workflow unless you specifically book a curb drop.

Do you strike same night? Often yes, when load-out is scheduled. Overnight holds are available when quoted.

How far in advance should we book? As early as you can—especially peak wedding, holiday, and premiere dates. Last-minute requests are welcome when inventory and crew allow; call 718-784-4527.

Do you deliver outside Manhattan? Yes. We serve NYC boroughs and the Northeast. Delivery and labor vary by distance and venue access.
